News27-03-2017The European Commission has just launched a new Call for proposals to support cluster internationalisation: "Cluster Go International". The objective of this action is to support cluster and business network collaborations across Europe, through the establishment of European Strategic Cluster Partnerships, in order to promote their internationalisation in third-country markets. A specific part of the call (Strand 1.b) is reserved for clusters and business networks in the downstream Earth Observation sector. It offers the possibility two EO cluster collaborations to receive project funding to set up a joint internationalisation strategy under the first phase of the action (duration 12 to 24 months). Successful candidates will be given the opportunity to subsequently apply for a second phase focused on the implementation their joint internationalisation strategy. Participation in the second phase will be subject to application in forthcoming calls for Cluster Go International activities. >>The call for proposals is open until 23 May 2017. 20-03-2017In the context the Copernicus user uptake strategy, and following the Workshop on internationalisation of Earth Observation companies held last November, we are pleased to inform you that the European Commission has launched a new project to support SME Internationalisation, "Ready2Go". This project will provide coaching and support to 80 selected SMEs wishing to expand their business outside the EU. Ready2Go is intended to benefit a broad range of industries (including ICT, environment, intelligent energy) and we have worked to ensure that innovative SMEs in space-related domains are also amongst the targeted sectors. It is a major opportunity for SMEs providing EO services to receive hands-on support to go international, including tailored coaching to develop international business plans and specific B2B matchmaking opportunities. The focus will be on five target countries and markets: Cameroon, Canada, Chile, India and United States – with some flexibility to consider Argentina or Egypt as alternatives. To subscribe, the link below can be used. >>Subscription 13-02-2017Dear User Forum colleagues, At the 13th meeting of the User Forum several delegations confirmed strong interest in ground motion information. It was agreed that a Task Force should develop a technical concept for a ground motion product as a possible extension of the current Copernicus portfolio, including This concept would then be treated under the process for new products (currently in draft: CUF-2016-37 revised version, to be discussed at the Copernicus Committee in March 2017). Noting that this discussion has essentially started with a workshop organized by the German Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) in November 2016, the Chair invited Germany to take the lead on developing the technical concept, which could then be formally proposed in the User Forum. For your reference, I am attaching the report of the Workshop on a Supra-National Ground Motion Service to this email. Dr. Michaela Frei of BGR has agreed to coordinate the Task Force. A first meeting could be envisioned in the second half of March 2017. Those of you who are interested in contributing to the development of the technical concept, please identify the relevant contributor from your country to Ms. Frei (michaela.frei (at) bgr.de) by February 10, 2017.
